The power of play :)
I love the work I do with On Deck Workshops not only because we help teams build trust and communicate more effectively, but also because we get to guide adults back to their playful sides! I've been seeing many articles recently about the benefits of play in adults' lives, but it's true that many of us have forgotten how to tap into that mindset. We become increasingly risk-averse in social settings, but that tendency also prevents us from bonding as deeply as we could. As the author of this article writes, "If one kid introduces an unexpected idea, the other must riff to make it work. Doing this with a new playmate is a 'high-risk strategy'—maybe they’ll shut you down—but when your ideas mesh, you get to invent something new together." It can be hard to know how to start bringing play back into our lives. That's why I love leading teams through exercises that create a shared culture of play.
