Mira?comes to us with a background in?outdoor education and adventure guiding, with experience leading sea kayaking, rock climbing, and environmental exploration programs. When she’s not outside with kids, she’s out?backpacking, surfing, or creating art inspired by the natural world. ?? Empowering Youth, One Climb at a Time! We just wrapped up an unforgettable climbing day at Rumney Rocks, thanks to the incredible support of NH Climbing and Fitness! Together, we guided our participants, ages 8-18, on a journey not only up the rock face but through personal challenges and meaningful connections. For these kids impacted by a loved one’s cancer diagnosis, each ascent is more than just a climb—it’s a chance to discover confidence, find community, and feel the power of adventure. Our programs are always free, and we strive to ensure everyone can access these transformative outdoor experiences. Excited to celebrate Mason Burke's journey since joining On Belay as Program Director in 2022! With a BSBA in management and organizational leadership, plus minors in outdoor recreation management and leadership, Mason brings a perfect mix of business savvy and a deep love for the outdoors. ???? From leading epic adventure trips across the Northeast, Michigan, Utah, Nevada, and California to shaping youth programs as Assistant Director at Camp Fireside, Mason’s experience is as vast as the landscapes he’s explored. Now, he’s channeling that expertise into helping On Belay kids build confidence, resilience, and community through outdoor adventures. ??♂??? Mason’s philosophy? The outdoors is where we grow, find our “Personal Legend” (shoutout to The Alchemist fans), and connect with both nature and each other. ?? When he’s not at On Belay, you can find Mason climbing, paddling on Great Bay, or skiing. He’s also a Gear Guide at Eastern Mountain Sports, the Caretaker and a Facilitator for the Browne Center, and is Wilderness First Aid certified. Meet Madeline Brooks, the Executive Director of On Belay. Madeline joined On Belay as the Executive Director in November 2021. Madeline came to On Belay with an extensive background in nonprofit work, youth development, and experiential education. Her breadth of experience ranges from children's ski instructor, mental health clinician, and corporate consultant. She has an MBA and Master's in Social Work from the University of Denver. As the On Belay team leader, Madeline is excited to work towards reaching even more kids across NH, ME, and Northern MA, raising awareness of the On Belay mission among community members and corporations, and growing On Belay's fundraising efforts. The On Belay mission is near and dear to Madeline; she loves sharing stories of the organization's impact on others. She is happy to meet anytime if you have questions or want to learn more! This awesome group from On Belay Inc. recently completed a hut-to-hut hike in the White Mountains, made possible by the Outdoor Journey Fund. "What an amazing trip a few weeks ago! We are so thankful for the support of the Outdoor Journey Fund covering the cost of our Teen Overnight Adventure. Without the support of this grant, it would have been difficult to provide this trip to our families!" Seeded with generous support from our friends at L.L.Bean, this fund helps nonprofit groups experience adventures in the outdoors at AMC locations, supported by AMC staff.
