It isn't magic, just elbow grease ? -Installing a featured exhibit represents a huge amount of work for a surprisingly small team. OMSI's 13,800 sq. ft. Featured Exhibit Space can go from an empty hall to its full presentation-ready, jaw-dropping spectacle in about 10 days. But before that, the team will plan months ahead, building everything necessary to pull off a well-orchestrated installation. Christopher Marley's amazing Exquisite Creatures Revealed exhibit was built for nearly double the display area of any previous exhibit, and needed a complementary program of show-quality theatrical lights -to bring each specimen to its full glory across 908 ft on two floors. Imagine building a piece of furniture from IKEA in a box containing 5,000 parts! No material shortage, equipment failure, or last-minute change could prevent us from reaching our deadline -not to mention keeping a museum running ;) I was invited recently to speak at a OMSI event about the process, and wanted to express the enormous respect I have for my do-or-die Exhibits Team!!
