Couldn't have said it better than my partner, Ryan Sparacino - glad our firm and our partners at Olson Grimsley Kawanabe Hinchcliff & Murray LLC are receiving recognition, but more importantly that this important case and the terrible problem of human trafficking is getting the attention it deserves.
I was recently interviewed by Law360 for an article (below) about F.C. v. Jacobs, an anti-trafficking matter in which Sparacino PLLC, alongside our co-counsel, Olson Grimsley Kawanabe Hinchcliff & Murray LLC, is honored to represent Filipino laborers who worked on World Cup-related construction projects in Qatar. Our clients have alleged that Jacobs violated the law by benefiting from their participation in the Qatar World Cup venture. We are committed to helping victims of trafficking in Qatar, or involving Qatari nationals, bring claims in American courts against defendants who allegedly violated U.S. trafficking and labor laws. We continue to investigate trafficking in Qatar, including the allegations against Jacobs and about the World Cup. Please reach out to us if you know of any facts that we should know, any witnesses whom we should meet, any victims who may wish to speak with us, or would like to work on similar matters as a member of our team.

Forbes named Kenzo Kawanabe to its inaugural list of America's Top 200 Lawyers. Forbes credited Kenzo's broad trial experience in "commercial disputes, product liability and intellectual property," as well as our "impact litigation plaintiffs firm's mission of holding the powerful to account." According to Forbes, the "elite lawyers on this list were selected through a rigorous, multi-stage process of researching, evaluating and rating thousands of candidates" and these "top lawyers," like Kenzo, have handled "the most consequential cases, deals or legal trends in recent years—whether litigation, tech, transactional, intellectual property, civil rights, M&A or private equity." This recognition follows our firm's recent $60 million groundbreaking trial victory against Mead Johnson in the first-in-the-country trial seeking to hold makers of cows milk-based formula responsible for the harms that their formula cause to premature babies. ? This week, our partners?Sean Grimsley,?Kenzo Kawanabe, and?Abigail Hinchcliff?achieved a groundbreaking $60 million trial victory against Mead Johnson, the manufacturer of Enfamil. This case is the first in the nation to reach a verdict on whether makers of cow’s-milk based formula are responsible for causing necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in premature infants.? ? The St. Clair, Illinois jury returned the verdict after less than two hours of deliberation and awarded our client, Jasmine Watson, $60 million in compensatory damages—more than twice the amount we requested. Under Illinois law at the time of filing, Ms. Watson could not request punitive damages.? ? Olson Grimsley Kawanabe Hinchcliff & Murray LLC?was retained as lead trial counsel less than one month before the four-week trial. Along with our colleagues?Samara Hoose (Haapala)?and?Beth Costner,?we were proud to work with?Benjamin Whiting,?Amelia Frenkel, the?fantastic Keller Postman LLC team, and the exceptional Dave Cates of The Cates Law Firm, LLC to achieve this historic result.? ? “We are grateful that Jasmine has finally received some measure of justice,” Grimsley said. “Chance should still be alive and, as we argued and the jury found, would be if he had not been fed Mead Johnson’s cow’s milk-based preterm formula.” ?
