FinCEN has effectively put compliance with the Corporate Transparency Act (“CTA”) on hold. In?Attorney at Law Magazine’s Legal Legacy Special Issue 2025,?Chair of Olshan Frome Wolosky LLP's Advertising, Marketing & Promotions Group and Co-Chair of the firm’s Brand Management & Protection Group Andrew Lustigman discussed the example set by his father, Sheldon S. Lustigman, who had his own advertising law boutique firm and eventually retired from Olshan. “My father’s practice, like mine, focused on advertising and marketing law,” Andy said. “As a child, he would bring home examples of his work, such as Sea Monkeys, or other novelty items, so that I was able to see the fun side of the law.” In the 1980s, Sheldon founded the Lustigman Firm, which Andy joined in 1995. Olshan Frome Wolosky LLP litigation counsel Katherine (Kat) Mateo, J.D. Stanford Law School authored an article in Law360 titled “Racing Corvettes Makes Me A Better Lawyer.” In the article, Kat shares how her hobby of racing Corvettes through the streets of New York also drives her passion for practicing law. Kat, who grew up in the Bronx, compares the adrenaline of high-speed driving to the thrill of legal practice. “Racing Corvettes has undoubtedly made me a better lawyer because driving, like practicing law, requires precision, awareness of your surroundings, and a good set of brakes, complete with the wisdom to know how and when to use them,” she writes. “Utilizing precision in litigation is critical because often clients provide a significant amount of information regarding their issues. Being able to triage and prioritize the most relevant facts and issues, so that you can efficiently chart a path forward, is what separates good lawyers from great lawyers.” Kat shares that her road-tested skills include remaining aware of one’s surroundings and understanding the interests of all stakeholders when it comes to advising her clients.
