The year of tectonic marketing disruption ?? ??? ?? We were invited to speak at this year’s DMA conference about how 2025 would change the face of marketing forever. Our UK Chief Strategy Officer gives an audience-eye-view of the day… Were you there?
Attended the DMA (Data & Marketing Association) UK Data Conference for the first time yesterday. All about "Regulatory Evolution & Data Innovation". Keynotes were from the Information Commissioner's Office and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. The second half of the day included... Rob Marcus of Colgate-Palmolive and Tarun Naipaul of Tesco on their retail media journey and the deep partnership they've forged. My friends Emma Cookson and Jack Smyth from The Brandtech Group explained why 2025 is 'the year of tectonic marketing disruption', offering practical guidance about what brands must do to win in the Gen AI era (policy, tech, process). Plus, an interesting panel about how data teams can play a more significant role in brand building. Key outtakes: break silos and reframe data teams - not just boffins in a corner. The panel included Ross Hawkes (OLIVER Agency), Chris Mitchell (Sky), Carolyn Bondi ?? (The Thread Team), Brian Ho (Virgin Red), Jae Hopkins (Explore Worldwide), and Ben Gott (Merkle). To paraphrase Owen Rowland, the DMA (Data & Marketing Association) UK is leading the charge with the government to shape policies that benefit both customers and brands. A DOUBLE SCOOP ?????? Amina Folarin has been named Campaign UK's CEO of the Year **AND** Visionary Business Leader of the Year! ?? ???? ???? ???? Last night's Inspiring Women Awards 2025 doubled-down on marketing excellence; recognizing the women rising to the top of the industry ~ including The Brandtech Group's Rebecca Sykes (Transforming Technology), Amy Arnell (Rising Star), Stephanie Parry (Diverse Inclusive Workplace), and OLIVER's Amina Folarin among many others. Amina is one of few women leading a major UK agency, and possibly the first from an HR background. She is redefining success; championing inclusion, sustainability and AI-led innovation while securing 13 new clients and giving marketers greater control of their brands.??? This International Women's Day, we're shining a spotlight on the important work our UK Group CEO, Amina Folarin, is doing to drive gender and racial equity in the marketing industry. In a recent CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing article "Recognizing Female Leaders", Amina shared her perspective on the critical role talent development plays in helping large organizations understand that inclusivity and representation are essential for building a stronger, more dynamic industry. "The marketing industry still has work to do in building inclusive leadership pathways.
