Olive Legal (YC S24) uses AI to summarize client medical records for personal injury lawyers. With Greg Volynsky’s legal (HLS ’24) and Sam Damashek’s technical (Jane Street, CMU) backgrounds, they set out to use AI to make the law more accessible. They're starting with personal injury because incentives are aligned—plaintiff lawyers are paid on contingency and, therefore, love time-saving tools. ? Other companies have proven substantial demand for medical chronologies, but they operate at best on hybrid human/AI approaches with multi-day turnarounds. Olive has built an AI solution that cuts humans out of the loop entirely, with instant turnarounds, while preserving human-level accuracy.
