During their time at Stanford cofounders Gabriella Dweck and Kelly Redmond participated in the Emergence Accelerator program, which has been hugely impactful both on their journeys as purposeful entrepreneurs and the formation of Oleo SPOS in its early days. Thank you to everyone at the Emergence@Stanford team for your continued support!

Introducing Kelly Redmond and Gabriella Dweck, this week’s spotlight in our Impact Entrepreneur Spotlight Series! Both graduates of last year’s Accelerator Program, Kelly and Gabriella Co-founded Oleo Sustainable Palm Oil Solutions (https://www.oleospos.com), a venture pioneering a new process for developing a sustainable, deforestation-free, lab-grown alternative to palm oil. The process recycles biomass waste streams and converts them into a carbon-neutral palm oil alternative through a two-step process, leveraging microwave pretreatment and fermentation. Oleo’s process can be implemented directly with smallholders in producing nations to preserve the economic backbone of local communities. Kelly graduated from Stanford’s Design Impact Master’s Program last June and obtained her B.S. in Environmental Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2016. Following her undergraduate degree, she served as an environmental science and engineering officer in the United States Army for five years. Kelly has explored over fifty countries and dozens of protected landscapes and wildlife areas, which brings a diverse perspective to her design process and storytelling projects, as well as a deep appreciation for the world we live in and the people that depend on it. Gabriella is graduating this December from Stanford’s Design Impact Masters Program. She earned a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2019, and spent three years in industry working as a new product development and manufacturing engineer, honing her skills in product and process development in the medical device industry. She Co-founded Oleo to make a lasting impact combating the climate crises and building local regenerative economies. Gabriella is passionate about implementing her skills and past experiences inventing products and conducting design research to create a more equitable and sustainable world. If you’re interested in learning more about Oleo SPOS, please reach out to Kelly Redmond and Gabriella Dweck. We are inspired by their commitment to impact entrepreneurship! #EmergenceSpotlightSeries #ImpactEntrepreneurship #ResponsibleInnovation
