Let Black Boys just play! Have fun. Be their authentic selves! Let them COOK! Derrick Banks Jr. leads our Black Male Animation Lab by finding the vintage toy sets, designing movement sequences, shooting the animation, and editing the final protype videos. Throughout the project, participants used computational and narrative STEM tools—cameras, software, and lighting—while integrating storytelling that reflected their cultural experiences. This experience fostered both technical skills and leadership, allowing them to see themselves as STEM leaders and narrative creators.
