Seattle Children's Hospital was found guilty of racial discrimination and creating a hostile work environment for Black employees, with a jury awarding former medical director Benjamin Danielson $21 million in damages. Danielson, who led the Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic, sued after resigning in 2020, accusing the hospital of perpetuating racial inequities, tolerating racial slurs, and retaliating against those speaking out. His lawsuit also highlighted discriminatory practices, such as using excessive security on Black patients and undermedicating those with sickle cell disease based on racial stereotypes. https://lnkd.in/gGnd-4G6
