We recently asked Sonya Frazier RN, BSN President of the Oklahoma Indigenous Nurses Association and ONA member what has been her most meaningful nursing moment and why. Here is what she shared: "My most meaningful nursing moment was realizing I was destined to be an Indigenous nurse. I have the ability to educate and connect with others in a meaningful way regarding Indigenous communities and practices. This has opened many opportunities to share my and my family’s important stories. Congratulations to Dr. Mindy Thompson, our 2024 Excellence in Nursing Award recipient! Dr. Thompson exemplifies dedication, innovation, and leadership in nursing. As an Associate Professor, she has enriched graduate nursing education through evidence-based and creative teaching strategies. Beyond academia, she serves as a Family Nurse Practitioner with Cura for the World, compassionately supporting marginalized communities.
