Fair Chance Hiring allows employers to develop loyal talent and reduce turnover. Leaders from the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma have seen this firsthand by utilizing OKC Metro Alliance, Inc.'s Firstep program, which helps formerly incarcerated individuals, like Chris Eaton, reenter the workforce without experiencing barriers. Did you know our law enforcement officers have the option to take people to the PIA instead of jail for public intoxication? The Public Inebriate Alternative (PIA) offers a safe space to detox and get connected to resources. When someone is brought here by law enforcement, they stay for 10 hours. During their stay, they receive meals, access to showers, a safe place to sleep, referrals to substance abuse services, and transportation home. This program is in collaboration between the OKC Police Department and OKC Metro Alliance, Inc. 🤍 I’m grateful for programs like this because they save taxpayer dollars, law enforcement time, and, when utilized effectively, people get connected to resources that cab help transform their lives for the better.
