We're super excited to share our contributions to The Linux Foundation project Monocle! We do that by helping AI engineers observe all aspects of AI workload without the hassle of custom coding. Okahu's contribution to #OSS Monocle is one way we are making progress on that mission. Dynamic tracing of app code is one of the most important troubleshooting technique but it is currently difficult to properly use it for #genAI apps. #GenAI apps are built in many different frameworks and use many different components such as LLMs, vectors, agents & more. This introduces complexity in capturing traces and inconsistency in resulting telemetry data across components. With Monocle, we aim to make it easy for individual developers to trace AI app code written using any language or framework in a consistent format across components in the AI ecosystem. Our goal is to eliminate any custom code decoration required to capture traces and cleansing of telemetry data required to correlate traces across components. We believe that tracing app is such a foundational aspect of monitoring AI apps that it should really be built in the #opensource as a utility that everyone in the AI ecosystem should be able to use it and contribute to it openly. This is why Okahu chose to steward Monocle as an LF AI & Data Foundation project and build upon foundations of OpenTelemetry & Prometheus.
