?? International cooperation is the cornerstone of climate action – and it is indispensable for protecting the most vulnerable among us. As the UN Secretary-General emphasizes, the world must come together at #COP29 to deliver climate justice. For the Least Developed Countries (#LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (#LLDCs), and Small Island Developing States (#SIDS), this is a matter of survival. These nations face disproportionate climate challenges: rising seas, extreme weather, and limited resources to adapt and recover. The call for an ambitious and balanced package at #COP29, with a robust climate finance goal at its core, aligns with their urgent needs. For #LDCs, #LLDCs, and #SIDS, climate finance is not charity—it’s an investment in global stability and prosperity. It is a lifeline for these vulnerable communities and a down payment on a resilient future for all humanity. At UNOHRLLS, we echo António Guterres' call for unity and action. The time to step up and deliver for the most vulnerable is now. Trade is a key driver of sustainable development and is essential for Landlocked Developing Countries -LLDCs, to overcome the barriers of being landlocked. At the Social Forum of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, our Under-Secretary-General and High Representative Rabab Fatima delivered a statement on the contribution of financing for development to the advancement of Human Rights. She emphasised the critical role that financing for development plays in advancing human rights for the world’s most vulnerable nations—LDCs, LLDCs and SIDS, as these countries continue to face the impacts of climate change, debt burdens and financing challenges.
