Did you know all 21 stations of the signature, world-class Purple Line Light Rail will feature artwork by community artists?? Pictured below is a stunning mosaic created by Heidi Lippman displayed at the future Connecticut Avenue Station! ? Maryland Transit Solutions, the joint venture of Dragados USA and OHLA USA, is responsible for carrying out the contract to design and construct the 16.2-mile, 21-station light rail system.?The project will carry riders between Bethesda in Montgomery County and New Carrollton in Prince George’s County. The system will provide direct connections to four branches of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority system, all three MARC commuter rail lines in the Baltimore-Washington metro area, and Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor line. ? While supporting community revitalization and transit-oriented development, the Purple Line will also help reduce dependence on auto travel. Recently, estimators from each of OHLA USA’s regional offices met at HCSS’s annual Users’ Group Meeting in Houston, Texas.?Our team members spent valuable time together learning, networking, and innovating for best practices to improve bidding and estimating success. ?? Take a look at our roadway reconstruction project along East Avenue and 47th Street in the Villages of McCook, LaGrange, and Brookfield, Illinois! ? OHLA USA’s Judlau Contracting division is making major strides on this Illinois Department of Transportation project, enhancing nearly two miles of roadway in Cook County. This ambitious contract includes intersection upgrades, roadway reconstruction and widening, resurfacing, railroad crossing enhancements, traffic signal modernization, and drainage improvements. ? Our crews are diligently working to install a new drainage system to manage stormwater safely and efficiently below grade. Along East Avenue, dirt crews are excavating trenches that will house essential drainage components, while on 47th Street in McCook, the team is placing an 8’x4’ precast box culvert. Other work activities include preparing trenches to accommodate a major pipe-jacking operation to connect the drainage system to a precast junction chamber. The chamber will eventually link to a 36-inch jacked-in-place pipe located beneath railroad tracks. ? These upgrades will significantly improve drainage in the area, ensuring stormwater flows eastward to the intersection of 47th Street and Plainfield Road, where a new cast-in-place headwall will complete the system. ?
