Last week, Ohio EMA took part in Cobalt Magnet 2025, a multi-national radiological exercise with more than 3,000 participants from local, state, provincial, and federal agencies from the United States and Canada. This week-long exercise was the result of 24 months of planning and coordination with more than 70 agencies participating. The exercise simulated a nuclear power plant accident. It enabled response personnel to practice scanning for radiological materials, protecting public health and safety, providing emergency relief to affected populations, determining long term agricultural effects and solutions, and restoring essential services. The exercise took place over the course of a full week allowing complete play in facets not normally achievable in typical day-long exercises.
