Congratulations to Professor Dr. Laeeq Khan and OHIO Alumnus Dr. Ghanem Elhersh on the release of their co-authored book, Decoding Disney’s Arab and Muslim Narratives. This book analyzes the depiction of Arabs and Muslims in animated Disney films and explores links between portrayals and public attitudes.?

Introducing our first faculty spotlight of the spring semester, meet Prof. Viktoria Marinova (Vik), who is an Assistant Professor in the School of Media Arts and Studies and is the Social Media Certificate Program Coordinator. She also oversees the Social Media Storytelling Lab. From the media industry to the classroom, she brings in over a decade of experience in content creation, marketing, and project management. As an instructor and social media strategist, she empowers organizations and students to build strong digital communities. With a passion for teaching and research on social media’s impact on nonprofit giving, she’s shaping the future of digital engagement. When she’s not in the classroom, you’ll find her gardening, dancing, or spending time with her four cats and partner!

Emily is a sophomore studying Marketing with a minor in Advertising & Public Relations, and a certificate in Social Media. She is from Cleveland, Ohio, and Athens has become her home away from home! At OHIO, Emily is involved in the American Marketing Association. In her free time, she enjoys baking and cooking, spending time with horses, and doing anything creative. “My time at OHIO has been filled with many opportunities to help me go grow personally and professionally, network, and develop my skills. I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with such an amazing team and create content for the School of Media Arts and Studies! It is an amazing way to get immersed in the OHIO community and develop skills in marketing and content creation!”
