The OPWC provides financing for local public infrastructure improvements through grant and loan funding.
关于我们
The Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) was created initially in 1987 to administer the State Capital Improvement Program which was soon joined by the Local Transportation Improvement Program. These programs, which run concurrently, are solicited, scored and selected by the 19 District Integrating Committees according to each district’s schedule. In 2000, the OPWC became responsible for the administration of the Clean Ohio Conservation Green Space Program in which applications are solicited, scored, and selected by the 19 Natural Resource Assistance Councils (NRACs). The OPWC staff is accountable to the legislatively appointed twelve-member Commission who provides oversight to the Director and adopts the bylaws governing the conduct of OPWC’s business. The Commission’s staff works with the district committees to ensure that the programs are administered in a fair and objective manner. On a daily basis staff maintain ongoing contact with local communities, providing technical assistance through each project's completion. It is OPWC’s mission to deliver its statutory programs with the greatest efficiency and highest customer satisfaction while maintaining a high level of transparency and accountability to Ohio’s taxpayers.

At the beginning of each fiscal year the staff of the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) have a strategy session to plan for the year ahead. We discuss our prior year accomplishments, we discuss opportunities for the current year, and then we set goals as a team to strive for in the year ahead. We have our goals planned for the upcoming fiscal year and we appreciate our team’s dedication to our shared vision and their hardwork to provide excellent customer service and program delivery to our customers and stakeholders.

The Ohio Public Works Commission congratulates Western Reserve Land Conservancy and partners on the successful acquisition of the E.J. Mackenbach Preserve, made possible through funding from the Clean Ohio Greenspace Conservation Program. This acquisition, the largest to date for the Heritage Trails Park District, enhances habitat connectivity and resilience, expanding public access to natural spaces and fostering community engagement. ? Jacob Pries, Southeast Field Director at Western Reserve Land Conservancy, aptly describes the E.J. Mackenbach Preserve as "a true gem for Auglaize County and the surrounding area, safeguarding critical habitats, historical landmarks, and offering a sanctuary for outdoor enthusiasts." ? OPWC extends gratitude to all collaborators, including dedicated donors, for making this project a success.

Congratulations to Metroparks Toledo for winning the 14th Annual Governor’s Award for Parks and Recreation presented by Ohio Parks and Recreation Association! Making history as the first two-time winner is a remarkable achievement. OPWC is proud to be part of their journey with the Clean Ohio program which has supported Metroparks with $4.3 million for land acquisition and improvements including restoration of shoreline and in-stream river habitat, and the construction of shared-use paths, walkways, and river overlooks. Thank you for creating a vibrant and accessible green space on the Maumee River creating a stunning gateway to the City of Toledo!

Exciting News in Conservation! We're thrilled to celebrate the successful collaboration between the Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program and the Philander Chase Conservancy. Through a $1,080,735 Clean Ohio grant funding, the Conservancy acquired a 124-acre property linking Kenyon College's Brown Family Environmental Center and Knox County Park District's Wolf Run Regional Park. This acquisition expands accessible green space for the community totaling over 1,000 acres. The diverse landscape will cater to recreational, educational, and research pursuits. Thank you to all involved in making this project a reality!
