The Board's primary purpose is to protect the citizens in the State of Ohio by ensuring safe drug distribution. With the practice of pharmacy changing so quickly, your expertise is invaluable to the citizens of Ohio. As a Board Member, you will be involved in licensure, rule making, and disciplinary hearings. OPA members - it's time to make your voices heard! Check your inboxes for an important advocacy alert and take action to contact your state legislators. HB 73 prohibits a pharmacist from using their professional judgment and mandates they fill all prescriptions they receive for off-label indications. Please reach out TODAY to let them know how this could negatively impact your practice and your patients. APhA has put together a form that allows you to easily contact your legislators; you can customize the messaging that is provided and it will be emailed to your elected official. Save the date for the November NPX Lunch + Learn! Join us via Zoom at noon on November 13 for Sydney Robbins’ presentation, “CDC Guidance on Doxy PEP for STI Prevention.” The CDC recently published clinical guidelines on the use of doxycycline as post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for prevention of bacterial sexually-transmitted infections (STIs). This presentation will provide information of doxy PEP and when healthcare providers should be recommending its use. Doxy PEP serves as the newest strategy in preventing STIs and should be provided to patients via a comprehensive sexual health approach. The Ohio Pharmacists Association Emerging Pharmacy Leaders Conference provides pharmacists, who have been practicing fewer than 10 years, the opportunity to enhance leadership and organizational skills for personal and professional growth. OPA officers, new practitioners and staff share their insights on the value of actively participating in professional associations. Approximately three contact hours of CPE will be provided. About one-third of the previous attendees have later served leadership positions in OPA, with 10 having served as President! The nomination deadline for this year’s conference is November 22.
