Today is #NationalRuralHealthDay, and there is no better time to showcase the hard work being done to improve access to healthcare in our Appalachian counties. Thanks to the Appalachian Community Innovation Centers Program, 11 area school districts have received grants to allow them to improve public health, education, and enhance workforce development.? ? A new era for Valley View School District students is coming soon! The Farmersville and Germantown communities will soon have a brand-new PK-12 facility that will serve?generations of students.? ?? As you can see from these photos, the finishing touches are now being made and the district is on schedule to occupy the building in December. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be announced at a later date by the district. This campus, designed by Fanning Howey and built by Conger Construction Group, will provide an impressive learning environment for Valley View students. ? ? As always, we thank Project Manager Ryan Meeds, PMP for his work with the Spartan community!?

Congratulations to the Village of Convoy Historical Society on the successful completion of the annex renovation project at the historic Convoy Opera House. We are proud to support this project by administering a $31K cultural facilities grant. Originally built in 1901, the Opera House has a long, proud history in this small Van Wert County village and the Convoy community. Over the years, it has served as an opera house, firehouse, and even city hall. It was even added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2021, a testament to its time-honored significance. Special thanks to the historical society for preserving this community treasure, and as always, thank you to our awesome Grants Administrator Jessica DeLong for her work.

Thank you to Senior Planning Manager Todd Hager LEED AP WELL AP for representing our team at the 2024 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo, which was held last week in Philadelphia.? ? Hager attended 15 classes on a wide array of subjects, including energy-efficient schools, innovations in concrete design, and improving indoor air quality in buildings. Ohio remains a leader in creating environmentally friendly learning spaces, and we look forward to maintaining that momentum for years to come.?

Check this out! Exciting progress is underway at the Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds. We are bringing this space into a new era and the steel framework?you see here will be the new Multi-Purpose Agricultural Education Facility.? ? This state-of-the-art facility will feature built-in kitchens, dining space, meeting rooms, and more than 100,000 square feet of multi-use convention space. During the Ohio State Fair, it will serve as an essential hub, combining the functions of the current Taste of Ohio Café and Agriculture & Horticulture Building.? ? The final resting place of President James A. Garfield has been renovated through a $750K cultural facilities grant we administered. Garfield, who was born in Moreland Hills and grew up to become the 20th president of the United States, was assassinated shortly after taking office in 1881 and was laid to rest at the Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland. The James A. Garfield Monument, completed in 1890, is where the former president and several members of his family were laid to rest. Renovations included crucial repairs to the external stairs, handrails, and windows, as well as re-pointing on the walls. These improvements ensure that the monument continues to honor Garfield’s memory with the dignity and preservation it deserves.

Congratulations to the Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens on completing their new sprinkler system installation project. We were proud to assist in this important safety upgrade by administering a $100K cultural facilities grant. The Dairy Barn Arts Center has transformed from a working dairy barn into a non-profit arts center, and we are proud to play a small role in its journey. From heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) upgrades in 2016 to this latest safety enhancement, our commitment to preserving Ohio’s cultural sites remains strong. Thank you to Grant Administrator Jessica DeLong for her tireless efforts on projects like this one across Ohio.
