The School of Communication at The University of Akron seeks candidates for an exciting opportunity to shape and grow interdisciplinary curriculum and degree pathways related to health, well-being, and community flourishing. The advertised position is part of a public and community health cluster hire being led within the?Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences. The search is part of an effort to grow certificate and curricular pathways in health, well-being, and community flourishing, with an emphasis on increasing research and teaching expertise in topics related to the social determinants of health, urban health, and health disparities. Participating units include: the Departments of Biology, Sociology, and the School of Communication. Specifically, as an urban-research university, we are particularly interested in scholars whose work touches on the pressing needs of cities and urban communities. The?Ohio Communication Journal?(OCJ) is now accepting manuscripts to be considered for publication in volume 63, which will be released online in spring 2025. We invite Ohio-based scholars and those residing in other parts of the world to contribute to this award-winning, peer-reviewed publication. OCJ features cutting-edge scholarship, ranging in methodological and theoretical approach, focused on a broad array of communication contexts and contemporary societal issues. We will consider full-length manuscripts (typically 5,000-7,500 words) that adhere to the journal’s submission guidelines. For this volume, we also welcome short essays (not to exceed 2,500 words) focusing on the role of professional development (broadly defined) in the communication discipline. All full-length articles and short essays must be submitted through the OCJ online system: Ohio Communication Journal. The submission deadline is Monday, September 30. ?
