Childcare challenges are a major barrier to workforce participation—according to advocates, 800,000 working parents in Ohio have had to cut back their hours due to a lack of accessible, affordable childcare. This shortage continues to fuel persistent workforce challenges. Earlier this week, Nikki Cooper testified before the Children and Human Services Committee in support of House Bill 96, highlighting the critical need for solutions. Addressing this issue is essential for strengthening Ohio’s workforce and economy.

Cardinal Health and the Cardinal Health Foundation recently announced a gift to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center to address mental health needs in the workforce. An issue that has been top of mind for many employers according to Ohio Business Roundtable President and CEO, Pat Tiberi. Today, Alexandra K. Denney testified for OBRT on SB 2 in Senate Energy Committee. The bill contains several of our Energy Competitiveness Study’s recommendations including Priority Investment Areas, a siting and permitting shot clock and an effort to reduce Ohio’s regulatory lag. Ohio has an opportunity to be a leader in advanced manufacturing, AI, energy development, and more, but to do so we must attract more generation and transmission infrastructure to meet the unprecedented demand.
