Where's the beef, you ask?? Why, it was at Second Harvest Food Bank! ?????? Yesterday, Sasha Rittenhouse and her family distributed fresh, local ground beef and Hamburger Helper from Clark County Cattle Producers to neighbors in our drive-thru alley. We're thrilled to have been able to share this generous donation, and we know our neighbors were excited to receive fresh beef! Each family also got a flyer with tips on how to store and thaw ground beef, cooking advice, and tasty recipes to help turn that ground beef into a delicious meal. A big thank you to the Ohio Beef Council for providing this helpful information!

  • State beef councils from across the U.S. gathered in Denver, Oct. 15-18, for the Partnerships in Action conference to collaborate on enhancing national Beef Checkoff programs. Anna Gest, Kelly Keirn and Morgan Hoppes of the Ohio Beef Council, joined nearly 80 participants to discuss strategies, consumer trends, and upcoming promotions like Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner. “This event is invaluable because it allows us to exchange ideas and strengthen our efforts to educate consumers and promote beef,” said Anna. The Ohio Beef Council remains committed to building a stronger partnership through the Federation of State Beef Councils, supporting national efforts to promote beef.

  • We had a fantastic two days during our 2024 Influencer Tour! We introduced our food bloggers to an Ohio beef farm family where they learned about the Shorthorn breed and how Turner Shorthorns focus on improving the land through conservation efforts while producing high-quality beef. Before heading to dinner, the bloggers discussed beef’s nutritional benefits and today’s trends. The Avenue Dublin Executive Chef, Alexia Sutter prepared a sampling of the restaurant’s top beef and veal dishes. Day two we were treated to media training by Inspire PR Group Katie Lundy and the ladies were put to the test with a secret ingredient basket challenge. Working in teams of two, three unique and delicious beef dishes were created in just 45 minutes. The Ohio Beef Council values our partnerships with farms, restaurants, influencers, and homes to connect and build a beefy future.

ARE YOU A BEEF LOVER? The Ohio Beef Council is bringing back the Eat Beef Ohio Passport this summer and it’s better than ever. Visit participating restaurants and select meat markets to eat beef, earn points, and win prizes. The program kicks off Beef Month on May 1, 2024, and runs through the end of September. The passport, funded by Ohio’s beef farm families through the Beef Checkoff program, highlights beef’s versatility with cuisines ranging from American Steak House to authentic Filipino and Lebanese flavors. And let’s not forget Ohio’s best beef burgers and go-to deli sandwiches. Each location offers something for everyone, and each beef meal enjoyed earns points towards prizes including a drawing for a beef grand prize pack. “Ohio’s cattle farmers take great pride in the beef they raise. We think the change of seasons is a great time to kick off this statewide celebration of beef,” said Ohio Beef Council Chairman Erin Stickel “We look forward to sharing great beef-eating experiences with all of Ohio.” The Eat Beef Ohio Passport is free and easy to use. Restaurant goers can visit https://lnkd.in/gGWUJtur to sign up for the pass or by scanning QR codes found at each participating location. Select locations offer special discounts just for pass holders.

Social media is changing how consumers learn about food and cooking. Consequently, the Ohio Beef Council (OBC) and the Beef Checkoff opted to embrace these changes and adapt to help consumers gain more confidence in handling and cooking beef. The result was the creation of a culinary studio to further educate consumers through online videos and content.? ? The multi-functional space is used as an in-house kitchen production studio for recipe development, video and social content creation, and educational demonstrations. OBC will partner with chefs, nutritionists, meat scientists, and other professionals to bring the message and education of beef on the plate to consumers. The first of many recipe videos shot in the new space featured one of OBC’s beef influencers and Brutus Buckeye promoting easy beef meals to fuel consumers throughout their day. The video shared on OBC and Ohio State University’s social media platforms, promoted the Ohio State 4Miler race held in April and sponsored by the Beef Checkoff. This promotion aligned with the council’s marketing efforts and educational initiatives of beef as part of a healthy lifestyle. ? “Having this space in our toolkit opens the door for more opportunities to reach and educate consumers more efficiently,” said Erin Stickel, Wood County beef producer and chair of the Ohio Beef Council. “Consumers will now have a true farm-to-fork experience with Ohio Beef.” ?
