This workshop was as important as it was impressive. With support from ARNOLD PALMER HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN and led by Samer K. At just one year old, Lola's life took a dramatic turn when a fire at a community gathering left her with severe burns on both hands. Her mother’s unwavering determination shone through—she learned about the Ohana One surgical camp just days before it began and traveled an entire day on a boda boda with Lola and her younger sibling to reach St. Mary’s Hospital in Lacor, Uganda. Lola was diagnosed with severe burn contractures that greatly restricted her hand movement. Thanks to several surgeries—including contracture releases, grafts, and K-wire fixation—Lola has regained movement and function in her hands. In the photo, you can see Lola with Ohana One’s Co-Founder, Dr. David Kulber. This life-changing effort was made possible in partnership with Pipeline International.
