Our volunteers spent this past weekend at Susannah Wesley Community Center to assist with the produce and perishable food distribution event. In a new pilot with the Hawaii Foodbank, volunteers hand out produce and perishable foods to the community, as well as offering their choice of available protein. Food choices offers to the community neighbors could also help to reduce food waste.

‘Ohana Health Plan is proud to continue our sponsorship in support of Gregory House Programs’ annual Kahu Malama Award. We want extend our appreciation to Dr. Dominic Chow and Dr. Cecilia Shikuma for their extraordinary contributions to Gregory House Programs and the HIV/AIDS community, for which they were recognized for. Mahalo for the great work that you continue to do in the community.

Our team had a great night celebrating The Caregiver Foundation at its annual Starlight Fancies fundraiser dinner. Mahalo for the work you do in our communities and for the resources you provide to Hawaii’s kupuna, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers.

5 Minute Pharmacy is a locally-owned pharmacy serving the people of Hawaii, providing many services beyond traditional dispensing. ‘Ohana Health Plan has closely partnered with 5 Minute Pharmacy for many years, through quality and pharmacy initiatives, focusing on our behavioral health population, including individuals experiencing homelessness, and members who are hard to reach. We recently had the opportunity to ride-along with 5 Minute Pharmacy as they went out into the community to check on and administer medication for one of our members. Mahalo for your continued partnership and for taking such good care of our members!

Through ‘Ohana Health Plan’s relationship with the Department of Health, our team was invited to support the Association for Infant Mental Health in Hawaii (AiMHHI) by joining them on a hike at Makapuu Lighthouse to celebrate healthy babies. We also collected funds for requested donations of diapers and wipes and presented them to Anne Komatsu, executive director of the Aloha Diaper Bank. We are excited that ‘Ohana Health Plan will soon be a drop off location for the Aloha Diaper Bank—stay tuned for more details!

‘Ohana Health Plan is proud to partner with Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies to ensure that every expectant mother is offered support to welcome a healthy baby. Through the Mana ‘Ohana partnership program, HMHB is in the community every day, serving as care extenders, providing wraparound services, and serving as a critical safety net so that our most vulnerable members and their families get the care they need.

What an incredible weekend at NAMIWalks Hawaii! Mahalo to everyone who joined the walk and shared their commitment to Mental Health for All. Thank you to NAMI Hawaii for providing much-needed support and awareness for mental illness and its impact on families in Hawaii.

‘Ohana Health Plan sent a team of Mana Wahine to the 2024 Wahine Forum, Hawaii’s largest leadership and career development conference for women. Mahalo to Hawaii Business Magazine for an incredible day of empowerment, connection and growth.

‘Ohana Health Plan attended the 2024 Hawaii Island Healthcare Conference at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort. Addressing healthcare access and equity on Hawaii Island requires long-term, cross-sector collaboration. Panel discussions included strengthening Hawaii’s healthcare workforce, bridging the healthcare gap through telehealth, and collaborative efforts focused on improved health outcomes in rural healthcare, among other topics.
