Yesterday we welcomed students from The Boulevard Academy, Kelvin Hall School and The Marvell College for our Climate Changemakers workshop. Held at the University of Hull, the workshop introduced students to sustainable drainage systems, or as they are often known, SuDS! Students made their own miniature SuDS models and learnt about the critical role they play in mitigating flooding and controlling the flow of water. ?? Thank you to our friends at Living With Water for putting on such a creative and inspiring session for the group. Our Climate Changemakers competition winner is ... The Boulevard Academy! ?? Schools across Hull have been battling it out to earn points by completing a variety of sustainability initiatives. With a whopping 1446.5 points, students at The Boulevard Academy have been involved in: ??? Litter picking ??? Delivering assemblies on climate change ?? Upcycling items to reduce waste ?? Encouraging students and staff to turn lights off ?? Walking to school rather than driving ?? Helping the school calculate its carbon footprint ?? Using reusable water bottles We've got a very special prize lined up for the students, happening in May. Stay tuned for more, but as a clue, it involves Hull Trains.... ?? Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited our Founding Partner Reckitt yesterday, to discover its near-200-year history of pioneering innovation in health sciences. Dr Grace Chapman, Reckitt's Heritage Advisor and Programme Lead for our Climate Changemakers programme, introduced the Prime Minister to some of Reckitt's best-known and most successful consumer brands.
