Caleb Zender, a fourth-year engineering physics student at The Ohio State University, is gaining invaluable real-world experience through his student employment at the Ohio Supercomputer Center and OARnet. From helping coordinate events like youth summer STEM institutes to managing technical projects and shipments, Zender’s hands-on work at the Ohio Technology Consortium is preparing him for a potential career in aerospace engineering! Ashton South, a computer science and engineering student at The Ohio State University, is gaining hands-on experience in software development through her student role at OSC. From working on OSC’s Open OnDemand platform to contributing to the installation of a new supercomputer, Ashton is just getting started in high performance computing. From South Africa to Ohio’s campuses – virtually! ???? Shawnee State University student Justin Meyer used his game development skills during his Ohio Technology Consortium student employment to create the “Universe of Opportunity,” a virtual reality tour of Ohio’s postsecondary institutions. This project, which first debuted at the Ohio State Fair, lets users explore campuses and get a feel for Ohio’s educational opportunities. The Ohio Technology Consortium has been recognized for the Ohio Supercomputer Center’s (OSC) “What’s So Super About Supercomputing?” Activity Book, which was announced as an award winner at the 2024 Public Relations Society of America PRSA Central Ohio Chapter’s annual PRism awards May 23. The activity book, which spotlights supercomputing and how OSC supports research and education in this growing field, won the top prize in the “Non-Profit: Single-Issue Publications” category.

We were delighted to participate in this year's COSI - Center of Science and Industry Big Science Celebration, where we shared information about the programs and capabilities of the Ohio Technology Consortium and Ohio Department of Higher Education. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth!
