??Weekly LNG Insight Spotlight: Rio Grande LNG boosts planned capacity to 45.0 MTPA NextDecade has begun development of three additional trains for its Rio Grande LNG liquefaction plant on the north shore of the Brownsville Ship Channel in south Texas, bringing its total planned capacity to 45 MTPA. In the meantime, the company, via its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor, Bechtel Corporation has completed 38.1% of work on Trains 1 and 2. Train 3 is 15.3% complete. For Trains 1 and 2, engineering is 84.9% complete, procurement 69.2% complete, and construction 10.6% complete. The same categories for Train 3 are 33.5%, 32.8%, and 0.4%, respectively. All categories for both phases are in line with the EPC contract’s schedule, according to NextDecade. Trains 4 and 5 are currently being commercialized, and NextDecade is beginning the permitting process for Trains 6-8. ?? ???? ?? Eni's Nguya FLNG in the Making: My Exclusive Tour with Wison New Energies One of the standout moments of my Wison New Energies tour was visiting the under-construction Nguya FLNG. This cutting-edge FLNG unit developed by Eni will have a liquefaction capacity of 2.4 million tons per annum (MTPA) and will complement the existing Tango FLNG, bringing the total liquefaction capacity of the Congo LNG project to 3.0 MTPA by the end of 2025. ?? A big thank you to Andrea Pigozzo, yard manager, for the insightful tour of the vessel—I learned a great deal that day. With extensive experience in FLNG projects, Andrea provided valuable perspectives on the complexities of building such units. While floating solutions are often praised for their simplicity and rapid deployment, seeing one under construction makes you realize that FLNG is anything but simple. Wison New Energies remains committed to delivering highly integrated EPCIC solutions for FLNG projects. I am truly grateful for the exclusive opportunity, courtesy of Eni and WNE. ??Weekly LNG Insight Spotlight: Commonwealth LNG receives federal approval and expects FID by September The U.S. Department of Energy announced that it had granted an LNG export license to the Commonwealth LNG project in Cameron Parish. It was the first approval of LNG exports after former President Joe Biden paused them early last year. Commonwealth LNG, which has waited longer than any other company for its permit, wants to build a 9.5 million metric ton per annum export plant to sell to countries that do not have a free trade agreement with the U.S. The company is expecting to make a final investment decision in September 2025, as a result of the license and subject to regulatory approval. ??Weekly LNG Insight Spotlight: bp's Gimi achieves first LNG On December 31, 2024, gas from the first phase of GTA started to flow from wells to the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel as part of the commissioning process. At the FPSO, gas is being processed to remove any condensate, water and impurities ahead of delivery to the floating LNG vessel for liquefaction. Gas has now been delivered to the floating LNG vessel and liquefaction has commenced. The liquefaction of gas into LNG is when Kosmos starts to recognize gas entitlement production from the project in its quarterly statements. In addition, bp has given notice to the offtaker (bp gas marketing ltd.) for an LNG carrier to arrive later this quarter to export the first LNG cargo. ??
