?? The 'Gold Shoe' Certificate of Honor Award is presented to ORMC colleagues for giving of exceptional service, living our mission and exhibiting our values. Jared Bradley, RN, has earned a "Gold Shoe'. From his nomination: "We recently had an elderly patient that was being discharged in the evening with a prescription that she would need to pick up. She was struggling to find a ride and when it became apparent that by the time she left she would not be able to get to her pharmacy, her nurse Jared Bradley left with her prescription, got it filled for her and brought it back so she would have it before she left, taking that worry off her shoulders. Jared is an excellent nurse and is always willing to go the extra mile with his patients to make sure their needs are met." Jared (left) with CEO Mark Adams in the photo. Congratulations to our colleagues in Intensive Care (ICU) for being the 'Bedside Reporting' Champions for last month. Fine work! A bedside report, also known as a bedside shift report (BSR), is a communication exchange between nurses who are coming and going on duty at a patient's bedside. The purpose of a BSR is to ensure a smooth transition of care and the delivery of high-quality care. Have you had a great experience at our hospital? Tell us about it in the comments.

The 'Gold Shoe' Certificate of Honor Award is presented to ORMC colleagues for giving of exceptional service, living our mission and exhibiting our values. Alden Kirk, phlebotomist, has earned a "Gold Shoe'. From his nomination: "A young girl was waiting to get her blood drawn. She seemed nervous and apprehensive. Instead of just taking the little girl back into the lab drawing room, Alden took the time to have a conversation with her in the waiting room. He first asked her if she had ever had her blood drawn before. When she answered “No”, he then proceeded to tell her about his first memory of having his blood taken, which happened to be about the same age as she was. He took the time to put her at ease and make her feel comfortable and let her know that it she would barely feel a thing. He turned what was a scary and unknown situation for this little girl and made it a positive experience for her. He exemplifies great patient care in all that he does on a daily basis and this is just one more example of that care." Alden (left) with CEO Mark Adams in the photo. Have you been cared for Alden? Tell us about it in the comments.

'Bee Award' for Alex Christensen (Lead Radiation Therapist) with our Cancer Treatment Center. The honey bee is known for it's dedication to laboring for others. Like the bee, we have nursing partners who dedicate themselves to providing exceptional care and creating a safe, comfortable environment for others. The Bee Award is in recognition for upholding those values. From her nomination: "Recently we had a patient who we were struggling to get her treatment approved through her insurance. Alex decided to take it upon herself to fight for the patient. She personally called and fought hard, spending over an hour on the phone advocating for the best treatment. After much hard work and caring it was approved! The patient was beyond grateful for Alex's tireless dedication on her behalf. Alex fought for this patient as if it was her own family. This is not unusual for Alex." Did someone make your stay with us better? Tell us about it in the comments.
