We had the best time hanging out with Dr. Tyler Jury, a first-generation graduate and our Alumni-in-Residence for 2024! Tyler is a 2012 graduate with a degree in Biology and Chemistry. He is now a practicing dentist in Oldham County while also allowing his creative side to flourish as co-founder of Clayton & Crume, a Louisville-based leather goods company. Tyler visited with Biology and Chemistry courses to talk about his experiences as a first-gen student and with dental school. He also visited with some faculty and staff for a little catch-up!

Last week, students in Dr. Mienaltowski's PSYS 481: History of Psychology class reviewed many of Lightner Witmer's cases from the early 1900s. Witmer, a psychologist, worked on cases that included children from a variety of backgrounds facing cognitive, physical, and social issues that led to challenges in their daily lives. Many benefited from interventions that he and his staff implemented. Witmer is known as the first psychologist to describe applied psychological work focused on client interventions as “clinical psychology.” Students reviewed cases in groups and presented on the details of each case, the interventions used, and the efficacy of treatment.
