o1-preview: is the juice worth the squeeze? ?? Short Answer: for most people, no. Long Answer: o1-preview is not only an expensive model based on USD per 1M tokens, but the amount of tokens used per prompt skyrockets when using o1-preview due to o1-preview's semi-novel CoT (chain of thought) technique. While this may be applicable for PhD level physics questions, we believe that most applications are better off using a cheaper, faster, and less intelligent model (e.g. Claude 3 Haiku, GPT-4o-mini, etc.) Not unlike the principle of least privilege in software security, we at OfficeGenie adopt the principle of least intelligence when developing AI solutions. Business applications simply don't require PhD level reasoning in a vast majority of cases to drive value. As the saying goes: a dab'll do ya' ?? #genai #openai #gemini #officegenie #ai #o1 #gpt4o

OpenAI released a preview version of their o1 models - they are highly performant, and specialize in tasks that require iterative thinking approaches such as physics, math, etc. But what about o1 is any different than something like GPT-4o? What problems does o1 solve for LLMS? Put simply, o1 implements a technique called "chain of thought" to iterate and improve on it's own ideas before a response is output to the end-user. Problem: LLMs simply predict the next token in a given sequence. This means that, as an LLM responds to you in real-time, it is in a sense becoming more "entrenched" in its own decision because the logical next tokens follow the pattern of the previous ones. You can think of this like stepping on a sticky fly trap. The first token output is like putting that first leg on the trap - once it's there, it's only a matter of time before you're completely stuck and can't move despite your best efforts. This can be an issue because the first token the model responds with is not given special attention or care, and as a result LLMs can find themselves barreling down a path of wrong decision-making. This would be analogous to humans never taking time to respond to a question, and also not giving themselves the freedom to change their mind while responding. OpenAI's o1 has been trained via reinforcement learning to first think through problems by outputting tokens and then reflecting and iterating on it's own thought process, which is abstracted from the end-user. Only when it has come to a conclusion will it then decide to exit "thinking mode" and enter "speaking mode" again. While o1 is far from AGI - and is certainly not a general-purpose LLM, it does mark a significant advancement towards hallucination-free models. If you've gotten a chance to use o1-preview or o1-mini: what were your first impressions? #openai #officegenie #genai #o1 #gpt4o #llm

Improved Efficiency: Automating data processes reduces manual work, minimizes errors, and allows employees to focus on higher-value tasks. 4. Competitive Advantage: Businesses that leverage their data effectively can anticipate market trends, adapt to changes, and offer superior customer experiences. 5. Risk Management: Structured data handling helps identify and mitigate risks by providing clear insights into operational or financial inconsistencies. For SMBs, implementing robust information management strategies might seem daunting but can be approached incrementally. Starting with a clear data governance policy and utilizing cloud-based tools can offer flexibility and scalability without heavy upfront investments. For enterprises, investing in advanced data analytics and machine learning can transform vast amounts of data into actionable insights, driving growth and innovation. In conclusion, whether you're a small business or a large corporation, integrating effective information management practices is crucial for success in the modern business landscape.
