Had a wonderful time at the PA Dignity Day Conference! I had the opportunity to attend an inspiring talk by Roslyn Wiseman, author of Queen Bees and Wannabes, which birthed the Mean Girls franchise. Roslyn did an amazing job highlighting the importance of dignity while embedding essential aspects of social justice, inclusion, and belonging into her message. I also had the chance to present on an element of the Dignity Model: acceptance of identity. It’s always a privilege to share in spaces filled with bold, fearless, and inspiring women. Grateful for the experience and the chance to learn from and alongside such incredible individuals! This week, I had the privilege of attending a luncheon to honor two exceptional partners, Gianna Durso-Finley, Executive Director, and Lindsey G. Bohra, Associate Executive Director, of the Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation. They were recognized as Penn State’s Foundation Partners of the Year—a well-deserved honor! It was a pleasure meeting them both and celebrating our shared mission. Through the Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity and Student Disability Resources, we work together to award scholarships to deserving students with disabilities each year. The Newcombe Foundation plays a pivotal role in making the dream of a Penn State education a reality for students across University Park and all Penn State campuses. Grateful to be part of a community dedicated to equity, inclusion, and access for all students.
