Yesterday, I met with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith in my office at the Texas Capitol. For years, Canada has been a strong trading and investment partner for Texas. We will continue to build a prosperous relationship between Alberta and Texas and our peoples.

Looking back on Texas’ recent economic development mission to Taiwan, Korea, and Japan, it’s clear that our economic relationships with these countries are stronger than ever. Together, we will drive the future of innovation.

On the fifth day of our economic development mission, I spent the morning meeting with business executives before boarding a high-speed bullet train to meet with Japanese government officials to strengthen the enduring bond between Texas and Japan.? ??? In Tokyo, I met with many Japanese business leaders hosted by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to highlight how Texas and Japan are critical economic partners. Texas has a strong relationship with Japanese companies who have invested in our state, including Mitsubishi, Tokyo Electron, Fujifilm, and Toyota. ?? In the afternoon, I met with Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi of Japan. During the meeting, we explored ways Texas and Japan can continue to bolster our economic partnership through more trade and new foreign direct investments.? ? I then visited with Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoko Kamikawa. I look forward to furthering the relationship between Texas and Japan to build a more innovative future for our people. ? The fourth day of our economic development mission took us to Nagoya, Japan, where we had an enriching experience focused on bolstering our relationship with Toyota and Japanese businesses. I met with Toyota executives at the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology. Toyota has been a vital part of Texas’s economy for over 20 years. Their significant investments in manufacturing facilities in Plano and San Antonio have brought thousands of good-paying jobs to hardworking Texans. Later, I met with executives from Aisin to discuss our long-standing partnership and future collaborative efforts in automotive manufacturing. I also thanked them for their recent investment in Cibolo. I look forward to continuing our economic development mission as we build a more innovative future for both Texas and Japan.
