The OAG is seeking a highly motivated and experienced litigator to serve as a Special Litigation Counsel (SLC), with a primary focus on defending the Office of Cannabis Management, the Cannabis Control Board, and their respective officers and employees in civil actions and proceedings brought in New York federal and state courts. The SLC will develop an expertise on a defined set of issues related to cannabis law. In that context, the Special Litigation Counsel will work across divisions within the OAG to ensure a consistent approach in similar matters; engage in, co-litigate, and coordinate defensive litigation; monitor important litigation within NY and nationwide; stay abreast of relevant legal developments; act as a liaison with other states facing similar cannabis litigation; and partner with the OAG’s policy team to review, monitor, and comment on legislative proposals and policy initiatives. The OAG’s Executive Division is seeking an attorney with in-house counsel and litigation experience for an Associate General Counsel position with the Office of the General Counsel (OGC). Experience collaborating across teams, including with human resources, reviewing contracts, and compliance in the government sector are also desired. The OAG’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) seeks attorneys with experience prosecuting and/or investigating complex financial wrongdoing to serve as Special Assistant Attorneys General in its NYC office. MFCU attorneys lead collaborative, team-based investigations with the Unit’s forensic accountants/auditors, detectives, and analysts to identify and prosecute financial fraud in the healthcare industry and abuse and neglect of residents in healthcare facilities, present evidence to grand juries, and conduct evidentiary hearings and trials in New York State courts. This position would primarily involve development and litigation of affirmative proceedings in areas such as consumer protection, civil rights, and social justice. The OAG’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a Medical Analyst in its New York City (NYC) office. Medical Analysts support the unit by working in partnership with its attorneys, auditors, detectives, data analysts, and legal support analysts to conduct complex, long-term healthcare fraud investigations. Possessing both civil and criminal enforcement powers, MFCU uses various state laws to bring civil actions and criminal proceedings, including asset forfeiture actions. MFCU also works to protect elderly and disabled New Yorkers by investigating reports of abuse and neglect in nursing homes and other residential health care facilities in the state. PIB investigates and prosecutes crimes committed by public employees, elected officials, candidates for public office, and people and entities that steal from the government. The OAG is seeking a Digital Assets Analyst to support digital assets investigations conducted by the Investor Protection Bureau (IPB). IPB, which has both regulatory and enforcement authority, protects the public from fraud and misrepresentations in the offer and sale of securities, commodities, and other investment products. The analyst will help IPB attorneys identify and investigate fraud and other deceptive practices involving digital assets. The analyst will regularly interface with internal and external OAG partners, such as OAG’s Research and Analytics Department, district attorneys’ offices, state and federal securities regulators, and federal criminal enforcement. The OAG is seeking an experienced prosecutor to serve as an Assistant Attorney General (AAG) in the Office of Special Investigation (OSI) in NYC, Poughkeepsie, or Suffolk County. OSI’s members investigate incidents throughout the state in which a police officer or a peace officer (including a corrections officer) has caused the death of a person.
