PAFIAST Business Club, in collaboration with the School of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Development, organized a seminar on "The Success Story of Islamic Banking and Finance" on January 29th, 2025. Dr Shareef Ullah Khan, revered Dean of the Department of IT and CS embraced the guest speaker and attendants. In his address, Dr. Shareef Ullah appraised the audience regarding the strides undertaken by the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology in fostering and developing industry-academia linkage and bridging the discrepancies that exist between these two pivotal sectors of the local economy. Additionally, the general audience was briefed about the financial aid services being rendered to the student population hailing from the underprivileged segment of society and was critical of the scholarship programs with regard to enabling the academic pursuits of these students. The seminar featured Mr.Zulqarnain Haider Vice president of corporate products and structured finance, at Meezan Bank as the keynote speaker. In his keynote address, M. Zulqarnain Haider underscored the importance of Islamic financing and the news of the hour to pivot towards the Ribba-free banking network and system. The keynote speaker also emphasized the distinct features of Islamic Banking and Financing and outlined the financial dividends a banking user can reap by shifting towards Islamic Banking. The seminar served the purpose of enabling the financial independence of the participants and enhancing their financial acumen and knowledge. ?

?? Glimpses from the Cultural and Entrepreneurship Fest??. The PAFIAST Business Club is privileged to announce that it co-organized the?Cultural and Entrepreneurship Fest in collaboration with the?PAFIAST Cultural Society on?12th December 2024. The fest's theme was centered around the local cultures of all major provinces and regions of Pakistan. The event featured illustrious and highly energized music performances pertaining to local folk , multiple demonstrations of cultural dances revolving around the local culture, and live cooking shows that aimed to exhibit the local food and cuisines. To facilitate the empowerment of local businesses and ventures that are centered around promoting local cultural attire and cuisine, dedicated stalls were established for such ventures to promote and market their products. The PAFIAST community at large showcased a keen interest in the products being marketed by local ventures and businesses. The novel concept of Industry-academia linkage that has defined the roots and structure of Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, remained the core of the Cultural and Entrepreneurship Gala with the local industrial partners featuring their presence at the event. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the industrial partners and budding entrepreneurs for undertaking a part in this gala. The student population of PAFIAST depicted a keen interest in the theme of "enabling entrepreneurship at a local level" with a large proportion of budding entrepreneurs associated with multiple schools and departments of the university partaking a role in the establishment of stalls to advertise and market their ventures. Students who participated in this entrepreneurial fest praised the efforts of the PAFIAST Business Club in fostering the entrepreneurial spirit in letter and spirit and appreciated the exposure garnered by them due to the organization of such a grandoise event. The PAFIAST Business Club has undertaken great strides in the organization of the Cultural and Entrepreneurship Fest. The successful co-organization of the gala is a testament to the PAFIAST Business Club's motto of inter-club collaborations. Gear up for PAFIAST Marketing Gala The PAFIAST Business Club under the patronage of the School of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Development is all set to organize the Entrepreneurship and Marketing Gala on 12th December 2024. The sole aim and motive behind the organization of a multi-disciplinary Marketing gala is to render a platform for the budding entrepreneurs of the PAFIAST community to showcase their products and services and provide them with an opportunity to connect with industrial professionals and experts. The theme of local culture and cuisines has also been integrated into the overarching theme of the Marketing gala, and the ventures pertaining to the local cultural outfits and cuisine are all set to market such products at the gala. The PAFIAST community at large can avail of lucrative deals and discounts such businesses offer by purchasing the articles on the spot. We are also pleased to announce that the gaming community of PAFIAST can showcase its skills in an e-sports competition organized by a partner society. "Glimpses from the Cohort-2 campus-wide pitch competition" The PAFIAST Business Club feels privileged to announce that it was designated as a partner by the Business Incubation Centre to co-organize the "Cohort-2" entrepreneurial-themed pitching competition. The theme of the "Cohort-2" competition was aligned with Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology's lofty and ambitious motto of??"Entrepreneuring Pakistan". The successful organization of the Cohort-2 event has played a pivotal role in manifesting this motto into a reality and can be deemed as a stepping stone to fostering a culture of entrepreneurship at a grassroots level. The event lasted three days and featured founders associated with 50 startups pitching and showcasing their unique value propositions and vying to get inducted into the Business Incubation Centre's "Startup Incubation" program. The event garnered participation from prospective and budding entrepreneurs from diversified academic disciplines and departments, a testament to revered rector Dr. Mohammad Mujahid's vision to broaden the ambit of the cohort series program. Dr Nauman Habib, HOD School of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Development encouraged the budding entrepreneurs by organizing capacity-building exercises. He also appraised the prospective entrepreneurs regarding the pivotal importance of scalability and development of homegrown entrepreneurial ventures in resolving macroeconomic and microeconomic predicaments that the state is currently grappling with. The panel gauged the financial health, scalability , return on investment prospects and graded the performance of each competing startup against pre-defined metrics devised by the School of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Development. The panel encompassed highly distinguished and decorated academicians who have introduced headways in the local entrepreneurial sector. The panel featured Dr. Moazam Maqsood(Founder, NewVative), Dr. Hamza Khan(Assistant Professor, School of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Development), Dr Muhammad Arif shah(Founder XUP STUDIOS ), Mr. Shahram Yusuf Khan(Deputy Manager, BIC), Mr Muhammad Younas Khan(Lecturer, School of Business, Entrepreneurship,& Professional Development) and Dr Nauman Habib( Manager, QEC-PAFIAST). We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers of the PAFIAST Business Club for playing a crucial role in the organization of such a grandiose event. The School of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Development at Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology organized an expert lecture as part of the Organizational Behavior course taught by Dr. Hamza Khan. The session featured the HR team from Kohinoor Textile Mills Limited, Kohinoor Maple Leaf Group, with Miss Madiha Shinwari delivering an insightful lecture on emotions, moods, and stress management—key topics in Organizational Behavior. The session was attended by students from electrical engineering, software engineering, data science, and information design programs. The interactive session provided students with the opportunity to engage directly with the HR team, discussing practical applications of Organizational Behavior concepts in the workplace. Miss Shinwari's presentation offered valuable insights into how managing emotions and stress impacts organizational performance and employee well-being. The HR team also answered student questions related to human resources practices, creating a dynamic and educational atmosphere. Dr. Nauman Habib, Head of the Department, also participated in the event. He explored future collaboration opportunities, highlighting the potential for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kohinoor Textile Mills, Rawalpindi. This partnership would include paid internships for students, helping bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry practices. The event concluded with the presentation of shields to the HR team as a token of appreciation. Overall, the lecture contributed significantly to enhancing students' understanding of Organizational Behavior and opened doors for future collaboration between Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology and Kohinoor Textile Mills Limited, Kohinoor Maple Leaf Group.
