Excited to reveal Onchain Labs! While we continue to innovate on scaling infrastructure, today, we’re also focused on empowering the Arbitrum application layer. We’ve generated many ideas for game-changing applications but recognize that we cannot build all of these ourselves. Through Onchain Labs, we’re dedicating resources to support developers who want to rapidly expand the application layer by ideating with them from the ground up, bringing the best user experiences to Arbitrum. There’s one thing that we won’t compromise on: Fair launches only. The extractive, zero-sum game that we’ve seen across crypto is simply not what this technology should be about. We believe in shared success and community alignment. Please note that Onchain Labs projects are experimental and can be very volatile. Users are encouraged to do their own research before purchasing any related tokens. The first projects will emerge from stealth soon. Talented teams looking for support can apply through our form. Excited to further contribute to the Arbitrum ecosystem. ?? Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eErA6bsz Apply here: https://lnkd.in/eAcPfv7U

We want a unified Ethereum and we’re making it happen. This means we want Ethereum to feel like one platform where anyone can have a seamless experience regardless of which EVM blockchain users are interacting with, and we believe the technology is there to make this a reality. Hear from our Co-Founder and Chief Scientist Ed Felten how the Universal Intents Engine can solve fragmentation and bring seamless UX experience to both Arbitrum and Ethereum blockchains.

In a joint work with Ben Berger, Ph.D., Ed Felten and Benny Sudakov, we study censorship attack during a challenge protocol of an optimistic rollup. Block proposers, who control transaction inclusion on base layer, can be bribed by an adversary to exclude honest party's transactions. The challenge period gives the defender an edge, as the attacker must censor continuously while the defender only needs to succeed a few times, potentially exhausting the attacker's resources. The study models this as a multi-round strategic game between the attacker and the defender, analyzing three variants based on the number of proposers and their behavior. Each variant is parameterized by the number of total rounds/blocks, required wins for an honest party, and budgets, aiming to determine the budget ratios needed for victory of honest party. The simplest variant assumes a single, myopic proposer per round, which conducts an auction won by the highest bidder. This yields a linear budget inequality for victory. The second variant introduces "special rounds" where the attacker must outbid the defender by a factor of k, reflecting Ethereum's default inclusion policies, increasing censorship costs. The third variant involves multiple proposers, where the defender wins if at least one includes its transaction, raising the attacker's required budget significantly. Namely, the increase is asymptotically equal to a number of proposers. The paper identifies optimal and near-optimal strategies, offering insights into extending optimistic rollup security against such attacks. At Tandem by Offchain Labs, we support projects that solve key challenges in the Web3 space. One such team is Xai Games, a gaming-focused blockchain built with Arbitrum technology that tackles some of the most difficult challenges related to scalability and performance in blockchain gaming. Xai’s mission is to onboard the next billion gamers into web3. Seamless, low-cost, and scalable gaming experiences are needed to achieve this. The Xai team partnered with Offchain Labs and customized Arbitrum technology to enable a tailored, efficient blockchain environment for gaming. This collaboration ensured that every technical challenge was met with a strategic solution. The result? - High throughput for uninterrupted gameplay. - EVM compatibility, making development easier for teams. - Scalability and flexibility for future growth. But the results aren’t just technical. More recently, the team revealed that over 40,000 PC games are coming to Xai, opening the door for over 100,000,000 PC users to join the Xai network. Xai’s success is evidence that with the right tech, the proper support, and strong collaboration, ambitious blockchain projects can not only scale but thrive.
