OEwaves, Inc. transforms novel microwave photonic technologies from concept to small size, weight, and power consumption ( low SWaP) solutions and products for the marketplace. These innovations enable new capabilities for applications in communications, sensors, quantum technologies, metrology and test and measurement systems. The company’s core technologies include the opto-electronic oscillator (OEO) and whispering gallery mode (WGM) optical resonators. They form the basis for miniature ultra-low phase noise fixed, and ultra-wideband tunable, oscillators and lasers, frequency converters and filters. Other OEwaves solutions include small receivers for radar and communications in support of unmanned platforms. OEwaves has developed unique photonic low phase and frequency noise measurement systems for high performance microwave oscillators and narrow linewidth lasers. OEwaves was founded in August 2000 and is headquartered in Pasadena, California.

Rabi oscillations are a key component in many quantum technologies and much effort is put into controlling them with the highest precision. Laser detuning from the center frequency of the transition leads to an effective generalized Rabi frequency. Any variations in the frequency of the laser used to probe a cold atom or trapped ion system will therefore lead to a loss of control. Is there a limit on how narrow a laser linewidth will be helpful in improving quantum system performance?
