?? Tomorrow’s the big day! ?? We’re excited to welcome employers, students, and volunteers to the 2025 Spring Career & Internship Fair! This is your chance to network, explore job and internship opportunities, and take the next step in your career journey. Here are some FAQs to help you prepare: ?? Who can attend? All ODU students and alumni—opportunities span across all industries! ?? Is pre-registration required? No! While pre-registration is helpful, it is not required for entry. ?? Do I need to research employers beforehand? It’s highly encouraged if you're targeting specific opportunities, but you’re also welcome to explore and connect. Freshmen and sophomores—this is a great chance to get familiar with the process! ?? What should I wear? Professional attire is recommended, but if you don’t have any, the Monarch Clothing Closet will have professional clothing available on-site. ?? Will there be help available? Yes! Career Coaches will be on hand for last-minute prep, practice, and questions before you walk in. The VISA Office and the ODU Monarch Internship Office will also be available with helpful information. ?? I’m feeling nervous. How do I avoid getting overwhelmed? ? Plan ahead – Research employers and practice your elevator pitch. ? Talk to a Career Coach – They’ll be available before you go in for extra support. ? Take breaks – It’s okay to step out, take a breather, and reset before heading back in. ?? Employers: Want to ensure you have a successful fair? ?? Alternative Spring Break Highlights ?? How did you spend your Spring Break??? This past week, I had the incredible opportunity to assist with the Alternative Spring Break program at Old Dominion University. This was hosted by ODU Center for Career & Leadership Development where I work as a Graduate Assistant, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the experiences we had and the impact we made! We had the opportunity to visit the Virginia Aquarium, where I had the chance to work alongside a group of amazing students, pulling weeds in the children's play area. It was a rewarding experience to contribute to such a fun, community-centered space. After our volunteer work, we were treated to free admission to the aquarium, which was a great bonus! ?? The next service day, we partnered with Operation Smile, an organization that performs life-changing surgeries on individuals with cleft lips around the world. After a tour of their facility, we got to sew smile bags for the children who will receive them post-surgery. It was inspiring to be a small part of such an important mission. ?? Later in the week, I had the pleasure of leading a resume workshop with Nahielys Ortega Jimenez for the students. We worked on incorporating their volunteer experiences into their resumes and helped them prepare for future opportunities with mock interviews. It was a fantastic way to give back and help the students build skills that will last beyond this spring break. ?? It was an amazing week of service, learning, and growth. I'm so grateful to have had the chance to be involved in this program and to help guide and support these students as they gave back to the community! #alternativespringbreak #volunteer #olddominionuniversity

We’re stronger when we serve together! ?? ?? Spring Education & Human Services Expo – Students and alumni connected with employers in education, counseling, social work, and more to explore full-time career opportunities in helping professions. ?? Future Educators & Leaders Event – Aspiring educators gained valuable insights from school district leaders, learning how to make an impact in the classroom and beyond. ???? ?? Monarch Pantry on WTKR News – We were honored to have our Monarch Pantry featured on the news, showcasing its impact in providing essential resources to students in need. ?? LEAP Workshop: Managing Up – Our LEAP students took their professional skills to the next level, learning how to communicate effectively with supervisors and take initiative in the workplace. ?? Health Science Volunteer Networking Event – Future healthcare professionals made valuable connections with organizations in the health sciences field, opening doors to new opportunities. ???? ?? 2025 Monarchs Leadership Conference – Students showcased their leadership experiences in programs, mentorship, internships, project management, research, advocacy, and activism for community change. This event was a powerful display of student leadership in action! We are so grateful for the energy and passion our Monarchs bring to every event.
