Among the valuable insights from OWNS and the American Nutrition Association's Mediterranean Diet Checklist is a focus on animal protein sources. Aim to enjoy fish and seafood at least twice weekly. Remember the acronym SMASH: Salmon, Mackerel, Anchovies, Sardines, and Herring for your low-mercury options. ??
关于我们
The Mission of the Ocular Wellness and Nutrition Society (OWNS) is to provide leadership, education, advice, and guidance to eye care and other health care professionals and consumers regarding the role of nutritional support as it relates to vision and eye health. The ONS supports evidence-based analysis concerning nutritional influences on eyes and systemic disease. The demand for vision services is expected to flood the healthcare system by 2020 due to age related eye disease and the diabetes epidemic. As the baby boomer generation is aging, research shows that the number of people in the United States with impaired vision -- including blindness -- could increase by at least 60 percent over the next three decades. Therefore, disease prevention, including lifestyle modification, attention to dietary intake and micronutrient supplementation must become more of a focus of primary vision care.
