We are so excited to announce that Kristina Chang has joined the Octave team as our Senior Photonic Engineer! Fresh off her first-place finish in the Kodiak 100-mile ultramarathon (see video), Kristina has started working on our NIST CHIPS Metrology SBIR project to use photonic chips and frequency combs to detect gases in semiconductor fabs. In addition to being an incredible runner, Kristina is an amazing scientist as well, completing a postdoc with Scott Diddams at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) after earning her PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in the lab of Steve Leone and Dan Neumark.

We're excited to be a part of the 2024 CO-Labs Governor's Award for Technology Transfer! Huge thanks to our collaborators at NIST, including Scott Papp, Jennifer Black, and Travis Briles for helping us bring these technologies to life!

I'm pleased to share that, effective this week, I have the great privilege of joining Octave Photonics as CEO! I can't imagine a more brilliant, dynamic, and fun group of physicists & engineers to work with—nor a technology node more critical to the foundation and growth of the Colorado quantum ecosystem—than this intrepid group of nanophotonics pioneers. Between the strong (and growing) catalog of integrated photonic devices, and Octave’s key role within the Quantum Tech Park currently under development in Northern Colorado, this is an incredible time to be joining the team -- and I'm excited and grateful for the opportunity.?Looking forward to working with our many quantum partners & customers (and many many non-quantum, for that matter), both within Colorado's borders and beyond!

Read my lips: CHIPS! Octave was honored to attend a kickoff event at the US Capitol building earlier this week celebrating the first round of SBIR awards from the CHIPS and Science Act. As part of this program Octave will be developing new photonic chip technologies for controlling process contaminants and hazardous gases inside and outside of semiconductor fabrication facilities. Ultimately, this will lead to higher yields, improved device performance, and better fab uptimes! Thank you CHIPS for America for organizing a wonderful event and highlighting the importance of small business innovation for the future of the chip industry. p.s. Colorado small businesses were well represented and also include Tech-X Corporation and Vapor Cell Technologies!

Four years ago we gave a losing presentation at a pitch competition and received a $250 Visa gift card as a sympathy prize. Since then, we've been waiting to redeem ourselves and use our card on an experience full of magic and whimsy. Well, last week we finally succeeded in getting a reservation for the Octave team to take a lunch break at Casa Bonita in Denver! Our table was visited by a gorilla, we saw cliff divers, we ate tasty sopaipillas, and we pondered the magic of The Insanely Mysterious Sorsoro. In short, our old gift card was well spent at "The Greatest Restaurant in the World!"

The Octave crew teamed up with Scott Davis from Vescent to help break ground at the new Quantum COmmons site in Arvada yesterday. We couldn't let Governor Jared Polis and the other dignitaries have all the fun! ?? The future of quantum and photonics advances one shovel-full at a time.

What. A. Day. We are proud to officially break ground on the brand new Quantum COmmons in Arvada, and we brought along some friends to make it possible. Thanks to Deputy Secretary Don Graves, Gov. Jared Polis, Colorado School of Mines President Paul C. Johnson, Ph.D., Rep.
