Work shouldn’t feel like survival mode & you don’t have to “tough it out” at the expense of your well being. Corporate trauma is real. It’s the lingering anxiety before a 1:1, the need to over-explain in emails, the fear of taking PTO. It’s the belief that productivity equals worth and that burnout is just part of the job. At Octave, we see the impact that workplace stress and toxic cultures have on mental health—and we’re here to help unlearn it. Therapy can be a space to process, heal, and rewrite the narratives that keep us stuck in old patterns. #CorporateTrauma #WorkplaceWellness #MentalHealthAtWork #FindYourOctave

Knowing how, or where, to find the right therapist makes a huge difference!!
Clinical psychologist and healthcare executive, dedicated to optimizing outcomes, value, and quality in healthcare.
As a therapist, there are few things my loved ones enjoy more than dishing about a bad therapy experience. Christina Caron's latest piece for The New York Times “Therapy Is Good. These Therapists Are Bad,” it’s obvious that my friends aren’t the only ones who have had bad experiences. What’s less clear is how to tell whether or not your therapist is doing you any good. As a clinical leader and psychologist, here are a just a few tips on what you should look for in a great therapist: ??Strong connection: We therapists talk a lot about Therapeutic Alliance, which is a fancy way of measuring whether a client and a therapist click. Ask yourself, do I trust this person? Do they give me valuable insights? Do they challenge me? Do I feel like they’re listening? ??Balanced conversations: Contrary to what you see on the show Shrinking, therapists shouldn’t be talking about themselves much. They should never bring their personal baggage into your sessions —?that’s your sacred space and time to focus on you and your needs. ??Techniques that work: One client in this article said, “her therapist instructed her to watch lights dart across a narrow tube.” Neither you nor your therapist need to guess what works. We are fortunate to have research that shows which evidence-based techniques are effective for certain conditions. ??They seek feedback: Clients aren’t the only ones who are trying to make the therapeutic relationship work. Most therapists go into overdrive trying to assess how things are going. Great therapists will use data to track your progress and will also ask you how things are going and if you’d like anything to change. Great mental health care can change your life, and positively impact everyone around you. When you find a great therapist, you’ll see great change in your life ? https://lnkd.in/gqbrNcCZ

Many, many years ago—perhaps even in the stone ages—I was an aspiring singer, songwriter, and musician, working on an R&B album infused with South Asian influences. That journey introduced me to so many brilliant, creative, and inspiring people. Looking back, I realize that many of them, like so many artists, could have benefited from better mental health support. That’s why it was exciting to see Universal launching a fund to support the mental health of its artists—an important step in an industry where emotional well-being is often overlooked. And major kudos to Chappell Roan for bringing this issue to the forefront in her Grammy acceptance speech. Here’s hoping this is just the beginning of a broader effort to prioritize mental health in the creative world. https://lnkd.in/gkPVzAqa
