This March, I'd like to celebrate #WomensHistoryMonth by recognizing the women who inspired me early in my career. I will be forever grateful to Carla Yudhishthu and Rebecca Schumacher for the impact that their mentorship and guidance had on my career trajectory. These amazing women led by example and showed me how powerful it is when women support each other. Today in my current role at Octaura, I have the privilege of working alongside an incredible group of women whose expertise and dedication help shape our culture and drive us toward success. It is inspiring to witness firsthand the commitment and resilience that fuels progress in our day-to-day work. This month?is not just about reflection but about continuing to move forward.?In doing so,?I think it's important to acknowledge the positive impact of having support from male allies as well. I've certainly had some exceptional male role models whose leadership and support helped me get to where I am today. I'm thankful for leaders like Brian Bejile, Rishi N., and my very first HR leader, the late Bob Boehm, who never shied away from championing gender diversity and advocating for more women in leadership roles. Here’s to the women who lead, innovate, and inspire—today and every day—and the men who support them. #WomenWhoLead #WomenEmpowerment

Last year, to mark International Women’s Day, I wrote a post about the trailing number of women in leadership positions. That data still rings true. Now, as I come back to work after spending parental leave with Joni, the latest addition to our family, I’m struck by how challenging it is for women in particular to balance it all. I’m not surprised women in a similar moment decide not to go back to work — thus contributing to a weakened pipeline of women to promote to the top. How do you climb the ladder when your kids are little and need so much? How do you push aside feelings of guilt that you should be giving to more to work or home life? How do you manage the never-ending mental load? And what about the laundry?! ?? For me, it’s clear that juggling all of this is only possible with a solid support system in place. I’m lucky that Octaura has been supportive without pause, enabling me to spend 4 full and wonderful months with Joni. I’m lucky to have the most supportive partner who picks up his share of the load and more (shout out, Peter G.). And I’m lucky to have an incredible daycare provider that we entrust with our two sweet kiddos day in and day out. It doesn’t mean life is seamless, but it certainly helps!! And these support systems are essential to keep women working and rising to the top. So, while I am probably more stretched (and tired) in this period of my life, I’m so so grateful. I know it’s a moment in time. And I’m more than up for a challenge! This week, I’m pumped to be back to work, catching up with colleagues and contributing to the rocket ship that is Octaura while my husband swaps in to finish up his leave and take over the couch cuddles and stroller walks for a bit. This morning I’m raising my coffee to the working moms. It’s hard. Here’s to supportive employers, partners, childcare… the village that makes it possible. ? ??
