#EngagedLibraries share the flavor of cultures. ?? Libraries are spaces where learning comes in many forms. At Edmonton Public Library in Canada, a partnership with the Edmonton Aboriginal Seniors Centre brings the community together to learn about Indigenous cultures through a variety of initiatives. This partnership earned the centre a 2024 I Partner With My Public Library Award from Let's Move in Libraries. One example is the “Sharing Food and Stories at a Multicultural Table” program. This event brings participants to the table to share about their cultures, build connections, and learn about nutrition and culinary skills. It also increases their food security through accessible cooking classes at the library’s kitchen. ?? We want to know how your library celebrates local cultures. Share your story on social media by including #EngagedLibraries and tagging OCLC in your post. You could be featured in an upcoming issue of Abstracts, on our community engagement hub, in an upcoming blog or video, or across our social media channels. ?? #EngagedLibraries step up when it matters most. ?? In times of crisis, libraries are a vital resource for their communities. From access to information to direct assistance for their users, Pottsboro Library in Texas is a great example of how libraries and their staff step up when their community is in need. Following severe weather in their rural area, library staff provided important updates across various communications channels. They also got out in the community to deliver water and other essential resources to residents. Their efforts in emergency preparedness and disaster response were captured as part of the #REALMproject, which was created to help libraries respond to the pandemic and continues to offer new resources to support libraries. ?? We want to know how your library prepares for emergencies. Share your story on social media by including #EngagedLibraries and tagging OCLC in your post. You could be featured in an upcoming issue of Abstracts, on our community engagement hub, in an upcoming blog or video, or across our social media channels. ??
