Minyard Morris Assistant Managing Partner Alexander Payne, CFLS has received the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s (NAPABA) 2024 “Best Under 40” Award at the 2024 NAPABA Convention in Seattle. The award honors the work of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI). National Asian Pacific American Bar Association is the nation’s largest Asian-Pacific American membership organization, representing the interests of 80,000 attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students. Approximately 10 people across North America receive this prestigious award annually. The NAPABA “Best Under 40” Award recognizes members of the AANHPI legal community who have achieved exceptional prominence in their respective fields, including academia, business, civic and charitable affairs, the judiciary, or politics. Alexander received this award due to his inspiring background, involvement in various legal communities, and exceptional skill in family law. Alex’s work offering free legal assistance to low-income residents and volunteering for Orange County Korean American Bar Association Foundation’s legal clinics also factored into this honor. https://lnkd.in/eaZKXwjE

Orange County Korean American Bar Association (OCKABA)'s Mentorship Committee was excited to hold a mixer to launch a new year of its mentorship program. It was a fun night where the mentors and mentees, along with the pods (groups of mentor and mentee pairings), met and mingled. We have a record number of participants this year, and we are so grateful for the participants' support of the program. Special thanks to Dr. Kent Choi and Ichthus Injury Network for their generous sponsorship of the event (second year in a row!), and to JinJu P. Last weekend, Kahana Feld Partners Samuel Yu and Mimi Ahn attended the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. They connected with many distinguished leaders in the Asian American legal community and gained meaningful insights to the legal community. Seattle was amazing.??? ?? The NAPABA Convention is an annual gathering of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students, providing networking opportunities, and perspective to the legal community.

I'm thrilled to share that last Thursday, I was honored with the Rising Star Award at the Orange County Business Journal's 2024 General Counsel Awards. This recognition is deeply humbling and has allowed me to reflect on and celebrate the people who shaped my journey thus far. I am grateful for the unwavering support from my "village" – my family, partner, friends, colleagues, mentors, and communities. A special highlight of the evening was getting to share my appreciation for my experience at University of California, Irvine School of Law with my former law school professor and Dean, Erwin Chemerinsky, who, as always, did a phenomenal job as the Master of Ceremonies.?It was a full-circle moment to celebrate this milestone with someone whose work profoundly influenced my legal education. Congratulations to this year's incredible nominees and fellow award winners: Jeffrey Plumer at Evolus (Outstanding Public Company GC), Jeff Shieh at Sega of America, Inc. (Outstanding Private Company GC), John K. Beckley at AAA Automobile Club of Southern California (Specialty Counsel Award), and Terumo Neuro (In-House Legal Team Award). It was an honor to get to represent DeepIntent and to stand alongside such respected and accomplished attorneys. Thank you to Orange County Business Journal and the supporting law firms for hosting this special event and providing a forum to recognize and celebrate Orange County's thriving in-house legal community.
