At Ochsner Ventures, we’re excited to highlight the progress of our portfolio company, myLaurel?! Following a successful pilot, Ochsner Health is planning to expand myLaurel’s innovative home-based care services to additional facilities, with the goal of transforming acute and transitional care. The pilot has shown promising results, allowing providers to discharge eligible patients from the ED and observation units directly to at-home care. This approach has the potential to save over 1,000 bed days annually and create capacity for 200+ additional admissions, enhancing patient care and optimizing hospital resources. We’re proud to support myLaurel as they scale this impactful service across our health system. We had an amazing time this morning at the New Orleans BioInnovation Center BioChallenge! The event featured six impressive startups working on solving critical problems in the health security space. Congratulations to the People's Choice and Overall winner - Informuta, whose breakthrough technology uses ML technology to analyze bacterial DNA to predict if an infection will become drug-resistant before it happens. We had a great time last night at the Statewide Innovation Strategy event, hosted by The Idea Village and Startup NOLA at the Nieux Society. It was great to hear Josh Fleig, Chief Innovation Officer of Louisiana Economic Development, share his thoughts on the health of the startup community in Louisiana, and the resources that are needed to strengthen it going forward. We also heard from an exceptional panel that included our CEO, Aimee Quirk, Hailey Bathurst of SeaAhead, La. State Rep. Matt Willard, and Dino Paternostro, of Legislink, who shared their thoughts on the current strengths and assets that exist within our state that support the startup community, and the policies needed to support it into the future. We believe that a vibrant Louisiana startup ecosystem can unlock new opportunities for the local communities that Ochsner serves.
