A groundbreaking evaluation by the Peterson Health Technology Institute (PHTI) highlighted the significant advantages of digital hypertension solutions centered on medication management and recognized Ochsner Digital Medicine for superior hypertension management. ? The report found programs that include medication adjustments deliver rapid and clinically meaningful blood pressure improvements, outperforming traditional care. In contrast, approaches focused solely on patient behavior change and transmitting home monitoring data show limited effectiveness. Among the leaders in this space is Ochsner Digital Medicine, which leverages advanced technology to enhance patient outcomes through effective medication management. ? The report calls for wider adoption of such solutions, emphasizing their long-term health benefits and cost-effectiveness. With hypertension costing the U.S. $131 billion annually, these findings underscore the potential for digital solutions to not only improve clinical outcomes but also reduce the economic burden of chronic conditions. ? “Too many people are living with uncontrolled hypertension, but there are effective digital solutions to help patients improve their cardiovascular health, save lives, and lower spending over the long run,” Caroline Pearson, Executive Director of PHTI, said in a press release (https://ochsner.cc/3VdzRjQ). “Digital medication management solutions support healthcare providers with virtual teams to monitor blood pressure and adjust medications to help bring patients into control within months rather than years.” ? Ochsner Health is proud to support the New Orleans Police Department as they roll out their Emergency Medical Responder program! To assist these officers—who are often the first to arrive in critical moments—we’ve donated life-saving Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). These devices help provide immediate care during cardiac emergencies, bridging the gap until EMS arrives and ensuring faster response times when every second counts. On Wednesday, Nov. 20, Jeffrey Kuo, MD, MMM, system medical director of emergency management and security and system chair for EMS at Ochsner Health, and Dawn Pevey, CEO of system centers of excellence & service lines for Ochsner Health, participated in the presentation to deliver the donation.
