John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital is the regional center for comprehensive and state-of-the-art pediatric trauma, surgical and medical care, including neonatal, perinatal and obstetric services. Oishei Children’s Hospital is the only access point for pediatric critical care as the region’s only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. It also serves as the only Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Western New York. The hospital enjoys a worldwide reputation for innovation and research while providing highly specialized care and treatment through a broad array of co-located outpatient services.

At Oishei Children's Hospital, we believe in the healing power of art. Our Healing Arts Program has curated over 900 pieces to create a comforting patient environment. This past weekend, we proudly added a special exhibition! On March 8, we welcomed NYS Assembly Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes, Burchfield Penney Art Center and community leaders to unveil Artifacts of Us—a showcase of Western New York Smithsonian American Women's History Museum Artwork, created by talented local students.
It was my privilege to kickoff Women’s History Month and spend International Women’s Day celebrating the installation of this beautiful work at John R. Oishei Children's Hospital - “Artifacts of Us.” Inspiring art created by students from the Buffalo Arts Studio’s Jump Start program, Buffalo Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, McKinley High School, and City Honors, among many others. Artifacts were gathered at a WNY Making History Committee event in 2024, supporting the Smithsonian American Women's History Museum. So grateful to be able to see these beautiful pieces everyday moving forward, inclusive of my own personal artifact, a picture of my grandmother, Ruth Bingert! #WomensHistoryMonth #InternationalWomensDay ??cred the talented Joe Cascio

Gold Corporate Champion Spirit Halloween recently visited Oishei Children's Hospital to celebrate their 2024 donation to the Child Life Department. With this year's gift of $89,066, Spirit of Children, their giving foundation, has been supporting Child Life development at OCH for 15 years, raising nearly $900,000 between just eight stores in WNY! “It’s truly amazing and heartfelt,” said Ashley Best, Zone Manager at Spirit Halloween, “The amount of effort that everyone puts into this truly shows that it’s for a good cause!” Thank you to Spirit of Children for supporting all of the fiendish fun happening at OCH!
