Scaling reuse in retail is essential for reducing plastic waste, and this new report from the US Plastics Pact and Closed Loop Partners provides a roadmap to make it happen ?? At Oceanic Global, we see alignment with our Blue Standard approach to systems-wide change—excited to see this collective effort driving solutions to make reuse the norm ?? #CircularEconomy #Reuse #SolutionsExist #BlueStandard
A successful reuse system is a critical strategy for reducing waste from plastic packaging—and now, we have a guide to make it happen! ? In collaboration with Closed Loop Partners' Center for the Circular Economy, we are excited to share Getting Ready for Reuse in Retail! This new report brings together insights from our extensive network of 120 retailers, NGOs, and consumer product companies to explore how reuse can scale in the retail sector. ? Collective research identifies the five most promising product categories for returnable packaging, specifically in-store and on-the-go return systems—where packaging is collected, transported, washed, sanitized, refilled, and returned to shelves. While reuse is already advancing in B2B settings, scaling it in retail requires a systems-wide effort. ? This report serves as a practical guide for businesses to identify the most viable packaging formats and categories to kickstart their reuse journey while considering factors like materials, operations, and consumer experience. Retailers and brands have an opportunity to take meaningful steps now—tapping into both business and environmental benefits. ? Our work doesn’t stop with the report. The U.S. Plastics Pact is launching a precompetitive effort to shift one product category to reuse in retail, helping to build consumer habits and inform future business and policy decisions. ? The momentum is here. Let’s make reuse work—at scale. Read the report: https://lnkd.in/gPYZr2p4
