Travis Alden opened the summit. Our Executive Director Curtis Burdette is attending the second annual The Right Place, Inc. Place Matters Summit with 13 West Michigan counties represented at a full house event at Brick Haus Brews in Sparta. Great to see Julie Burrell, Kristi Lucas-Zimmerman, Brent Case, Victor Joaquin, SHRM-CP, Kelly Jo W., Jodi Nichols, Ryan Wilson, Tim Mroz, Jillian Elliott, CMP and so many more colleagues from the region.

I'm December, the next round of funds for growers with Specialty Crops will open. Check this out for more information.
Congratulations to the recently announced Specialty Crop Block Grant (SCBG) recipients! The SCBG allows for support of specialty crops in Michigan including fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops. What's new in Oceana? CEO & President of The Right Place, Inc. Randy Thelen visited Oceana County to discuss ideas to maximize the partnership between The Right Place and Oceana County Economic Alliance. Jim Kleiner at Perdue Foods hosted us in Shelby and Phil Morse from Village of Shelby and Tracy Byard, ICMA-CM from Oceana County joined our Executive Director Curtis Burdette at this meeting.

The heart of rural economic development in West Michigan gathered today in Hart The Right Place, Inc. County Partner leaders gathered in Hart for a West Michigan rural economic development retreat hosted by Birch & Blossom and facilitated by Julie Burrell with Curtis Burdette, Jodi Nichols, Kelly Jo W., Ryan Wilson, and Kristi Lucas-Zimmerman. What a wonderful opportunity to focus on economic development for 7 low-population West Michigan counties powered by The Right Place including Ionia, Lake, Mason, Mecosta. Montcalm. Newaygo, and Oceana. Thanks to Stella's Coffee House, The Bakery on the Corner, La Probadita, Lakeside Coffee, Smoothie, and Bagel Bar at Lakeside Rehab and Family Fitness Center, @Dark Water Coffee, and Hegg's Gallery of Fine Furniture.

Our Executive Director Curtis Burdette is up north attending the Michigan Broadband Summit by Merit Network. Access, affordability, and availability of high-speed Internet is a critical need in many areas of Oceana County.
