Using samples collected in the #deepsea by ROVs like Hercules, #geologists will grind rock crusts into sand for many different analyses. Using #microscopes, #genomesequencing, and chemical analyses, they can learn the story of the microbial characters of the #seafloor.

关于我们
The Ocean Exploration Trust (OET) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to exploring the ocean, seeking out new discoveries in the fields of geology, biology, maritime history, archaeology, and chemistry while pushing the boundaries of engineering, technology, education, and communications. We aim to share our story and our science with explorers via live telepresence from aboard Exploration Vessel Nautilus and around the world in order to inspire people to care about the oceans and excite the next generation of explorers. We promise to bring our audience cutting edge exploration, live from the bottom of the ocean as we explore seascapes that have never been explored before.

Attention #Lego Fans! This step-by-step tutorial will guide you through the process of building your very own #ROVHercules using LEGO bricks! This design was made by #oceanexplorer, University of New Hampshire Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping / NOAA-UNH Joint Hydrographic Center IT Systems Manager, and LEGO? master builder Will Fessenden. https://bit.ly/3Eu8OuX

On #EVNautilus, Video Engineers manage the video feeds from the #remotelyoperatedvehicles (#ROVs) underwater?and cameras around the ship. While exploring, pristine video is the critical data deliverable to science teams, allowing them to analyze the #seafloor and review discoveries after the expedition. Video engineers ensure video recordings meet rigorous broadcast and scientific standards. Although the?Hercules?pilots fly the ROV, the #videoengineer is the eyes of the operation. In this #behindthescenes video, 2024 #ScienceCommunicationFellow Alice Chou gives us a tour of some of the lesser-explored areas of #EVNautilus. Traverse the rack room (aka the “brain” that holds all of our data) and its dozens of servers capable of massive computing power. Next, check out the #sonar room that acts as the home base for the ship’s #multibeamsonar electronics. We invite you to learn more about the data systems that make #oceanexploration possible and help us share the wonder of science with the world. https://lnkd.in/e3pnD-BN
